Increase in family law fees

If you are involved in proceedings in the Family Court or the Federal Circuit Court in relation to a family law dispute, you are required to pay certain fees from time to time.  From 1 July 2015, those fees will increase.  See the Family Court web site in relation to changes to the fees charged.

For most people, the changes to the Federal Circuit Court fees will be of most interest because that is the Court where most family law proceedings are conducted. To illustrate the changes, if you were to commence proceedings today for interim and final orders in relation to your children and your property, you would expect to pay the following fees:
$530 to file the Initiating Application
$110 for the interim application

From 1 July 2015, those fees will increase to $585 for the Initiating Application and to $120 for the interim application.

If you have any questions about the changes, you can contact us on 0490 046 696.
